9th Regular Session of the Scientific Committee, 6-14 August 2013, Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia

The 9th regular session of the Scientific Committee (WCPFC-SC9) will be held in Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia, from 6 (Tuesday) to 14 (Wednesday) August 2013, with a Head of Delegation Meeting on 5 August 2013. The meeting will cover review of the Pacific tuna fisheries; data gaps of the Commission; improvements in stock assessments; 2012/2013 stock assessments for Pacific bluefin tuna, South Pacific swordfish, Pacific blue marlin, silky shark and North Pacific blue shark; CPUE analysis for South Pacific blue shark; specific limit reference points and scientific aspect of management objectives; ecosystem and bycatch issues including ecosystem modeling, shark research plan, mitigation of seabirds and sea turtles and FAD bycatch; scientific aspects of the conservation and management measures; the reports of the 2012/2013 science projects; Scientific Committee’s work programme and budget for 2014-2016; and future operations of the Scientific Committee.
