Executive Director takes up his appointment in Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia
Professor Glenn Hurry took up his appointment as Executive Director of the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission on 26 September 2010 and arrived at the location of the Commission’s headquarters, Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia on 27 September after a long set of flights from Canberra, Australia. Professor Hurry will immediately be involved with the Sixth Annual Session of the Commission’s Technical and Compliance Committee Meeting which is being held in Pohnpei from 30 September to 05 October 2010. After his long flight Professor Hurry was greeted by Dr. SungKwon Soh, the Interim Executive Director, the Commission’s Legal Advisor, Dr Martin Tsamenyi and WCPFC Secretariat staff who gave a warm welcome. Also present were two impressive but disguised fishing rods that claimed to be part of the Executive Director’s party. Professor Hurry was appointed following the departure of Andrew Wright in February.
