Current Status and Management Advice for WCPFC Stocks of Interest
The following files provide up-to-date stock status and management advice for key stocks assessed by the WCPFC. Each document follows a standardized format, presenting the latest information on stock status, management advice, research recommendations, relevant references, and links to previous stock assessment reports.
Stock Status Summary
The Majuro (top left) and Kobe (top right) plots illustrate the stock status of the four key WCPO tuna species. In these plots:
- The grid median value is represented by a large dot.
- For skipjack tuna, uncertainty is depicted using an ellipse that approximates the distribution of point estimates from uncertainty grid models.
- For bigeye and yellowfin tuna, the irregularly shaped regions indicate the 95% confidence interval (kernel density estimate) of the grid model's point estimates.
- For albacore tuna, the 95% confidence interval is derived from ensemble model point estimates, incorporating estimation uncertainty.
Additionally, the Majuro plot includes vertical lines indicating interim Target Reference Points (TRPs) for skipjack and South Pacific albacore, as well as management objectives for bigeye and yellowfin. These lines are color-coded by species, with both skipjack and albacore assigned interim TRPs of 0.5 so their lines have been slightly jiggered.
